Hiba Akbar is a Visiting Assistant Professor (Full Time) at the Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law, where she teaches courses in Criminal Law and Legal Theory.
Hiba completed her LLM from Columbia Law School as a Fulbright Scholar in 2017. She graduated from Columbia Law School as a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. During her LLM, she participated in Columbia Law School's Sexuality and Gender Law Clinic, where she worked on reproductive rights and the rights of transgender prisoners in New York prisons. Since then, she has been working in academia, first as Lecturer at the University of Management and Technology, Lahore, and then at LUMS. Hiba's research interests lie at the intersection of gender, labour, and law. Her first publication was co-authored with her colleague, Dr. Azeem, on labour law. She is currently developing publications in criminal law and gender.

Prior to her LLM, Hiba worked at a commercial law firm in Lahore, and assisted on an exciting research study on rape law reform in Pakistan for the National Commission on Status of Women.
