"The Pakistani Consumer - Dumb or Dumber?" A Talk by Dr. Owais H. Sheikh

About the Speaker: Dr. Owais H. Shaikh completed his PhD with Magna-cum-Laude from Ludwig Maximilians Universität (Munich University), Germany. He wrote his PhD dissertation at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition in Munich. His dissertation was published by Springer titled ‘Access to Medicine versus Test Data Exclusivity: Safeguarding Flexibilities Under International Law.’ Owais also has a Master of Laws in Intellectual Property (LL.M) from University of Augsburg and the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center. Apart from these, he holds an MBA and a BBA from the Institute of Business Administration, Karachi. Currently, Owais teaches Intellectual Property Law and Legal Research methods at Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University of Law, Karachi, Pakistan, where he is also the Chairman of the Department of Law. Moreover, he is a Tutor for the Intellectual Property Management course at the World Intellectual Property Organization Academy, an organ of the United Nations. He also acts as a mentor to various technology startups. Previously, he worked as a Management Consultant in Germany and as Assistant Director at the Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan where he assisted the Registrar Trade Marks in Ex-parte hearings.
