LUMS Law School Renews MoU with Punjab Women Protection Authority

LUMS SAHSOL is pleased to renew its commitment to work with the Punjab Women Protection Authority to further common goals of research, legal awareness and access to justice through an MoU signed on Friday, 28 November, 2025

Ms. Kulsoom Saqib (DG PWPA) noted her appreciation for collaborative initiatives undertaken, particularly during the period in which the Women Protection Centers operated under the Social Welfare Department. Prof. Angbeen Atif also conveyed her appreciation for the Punjab Women Protection Authority’s consistently open and supportive engagement with LUMS Law School students, highlighting the invaluable practical learning opportunities facilitated through this partnership. Ceremony was joined by Ms. Hina Pervaiz Butt (Chairperson PWPA), LUMS VC Dr. Ali Cheema, Ms. Kulsoom Saqib (Director General PWPA), Rabia Usman (District Officer, PWPA) and faculty members from the law school.

Further to the MOU, students at the Legal Aid Clinic provide legal advice and representation for khula matters to clients referred by the PWPA. Working closely with the team at the Women Protection Centres, joint consultations and workshops on matters relating to women, including but not limited to domestic violence, rape, child marriage and dissolution of marriage are in the pipeline for the coming years.
