SAHSOL Alumnus Muhammad Adil Chattha Appointed Senior Consultant to the Advocate General Punjab

LUMS

We are proud to share that Muhammad Adil Chattha, an alumnus of the Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law (SAHSOL), LUMS, has been appointed as the Senior Consultant to the Advocate General Punjab —youngest individual to hold this prestigious position in Pakistan.

The Advocate General’s Office is the principal constitutional institution responsible for representing the Government of Punjab — the country’s most populous and strategically significant province — in all litigation before the superior courts. The office also plays a vital role in rendering authoritative legal advice to the provincial government, vetting legislation, and contributing to key policy frameworks. As Senior Consultant, Mr. Chattha is engaged in advising on high-level constitutional and legal matters, institutional reform, and legislative drafting.

Following his graduation from LUMS, Mr. Chattha began his legal career at Asim Hafeez Law Associates, where he gained experience in corporate, commercial, banking, and land law. After the elevation of Mr. Asim Hafeez to the bench of the Lahore High Court, Mr. Chattha joined Amjad Pervaiz Law Associates and went on to work on high-profile accountability cases involving former Prime Ministers, Chief Ministers, Federal Ministers, senior bureaucrats, and top business leaders. His litigation practice has included extensive appearances in matters involving NAB, FIA, SECP, FBR, Customs, and the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE).
Mr. Chattha has also pursued public interest litigation. Notably, in one of his cases, the Supreme Court of Pakistan laid down important jurisprudence concerning the constitutional limits on the authority of Special Assistants to the Prime Minister.
Currently, Mr. Chattha is the Managing Partner of his own law firm, where he continues to handle a diverse and high-stakes litigation portfolio. He has served as a Consultant on a Tabadlab–FCDO initiative focusing on anti-money laundering and illicit finance, contributing toward reforms within the FIA. He is also Chairman of the Lahore High Court Bar Association’s Committee on Accountability Law Reform and has been actively involved in legislative reform efforts with several parliamentarians. Additionally, he has contributed to the manifesto of a major political party on issues related to governance and legal accountability.
Mr. Chattha has a longstanding passion for legal education and public service training. He has taught law at the University of Management and Technology (UMT), University of Central Punjab (UCP), and the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). He also trains Civil Judges and Additional Sessions Judges at the Punjab Judicial Academy (PJA), and conducts training for CSS officers during their post-induction programs at the Civil Services Academy (CIMLA).

Muhammad Adil Chattha’s appointment is a proud milestone for the LUMS community and a reflection of the leadership, integrity, and commitment to public service that SAHSOL strives to cultivate in its graduates.
