SAHSOL hosts fourth Pedagogical Training Workshop in collaboration with Directorate of Legal Education, Pakistan Bar Council and LUMS Learning Institute
The Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law (SAHSOL), in collaboration with the Directorate of Legal Education, Pakistan Bar Council, inaugurated the fourth training workshop on “Designing and Teaching Effective Law Courses” at LUMS. The three-day workshop is being held from 18 to 20 September 2025.
The initiative, funded by the Law & Justice Commission of Pakistan, responds to a longstanding gap in Pakistan’s legal education system, where instruction has traditionally been limited to the study of statutes. The lack of comprehensive treatises and readily available casebooks has often compelled faculty to assemble course material independently, shifting focus away from the equally important task of teaching.
By bringing together legal educators from across the country, the workshop aims to initiate meaningful conversations around strengthening pedagogy and rethinking how law is taught in Pakistan. Speaking to the importance of quality legal education, the Supreme Court of Pakistan in Constitution Petition No. 134 of 2012 observed that, “Provision of good quality legal education is inextricably linked with dispensation of justice that the Bar is responsible for ensuring.”
Through sessions dedicated to course design, case method teaching, and classroom strategies, the workshop underscores the belief that careful research and planning in developing and delivering courses lays the foundation for stronger legal education and the cultivation of analytical minds.
