A Guest Lecture on Comparative Legal Investigation on Crimes in Finance
On Wednesday, 10th August 2022, a guest lecture by Advocate Mr Zohaib Ashraf on ‘Crimes in Finance’ was arranged for Introduction to Legal Reasoning class taught by Dr Faiza Ismail (Assistant Professor, SAHSOL). Mr Ashraf is a Barrister of Lincoln's Inn and an Advocate of the High Courts of Pakistan. His legal expertise encompasses the full spectrum of civil litigation and corporate and commercial advisory. The lecture enlightened students about laws in the UK and Pakistan regarding financial crimes and included examples of different types of finance crimes and the differences between finance crime and other white-collar crimes that involve financial matters such as; recently found fake bank accounts, consequences of bribery, smuggling & corruption, vulnerability of banks to money launderers, charges of money laundering on politicians and terror financing laws.
