LUMS VICE CHANCELLORS ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS FOR THE YEAR 2022
SAHSOL takes pride in sharing that Mr Saroop Ijaz (BA/LLB Class of 2008, Lawyer, Human Rights Watch and Adjunct Faculty) and Mr Altamush Saeed (BA/LLB Class of 2020, Candidate of LLM, Lewis Clark Law School, 2022-23) have won the LUMS Vice Chancellor's Alumni Achievement Award for the year 2022.
Saroop joined the BA/LLB program at its inception and was quickly recognized for his diverse talents. In 2013, he was appointed as the Chairperson of the Committee on International Human Rights, Lahore High Court Bar Association and appointed as an Amicus Curiae (Friend of the Court) in several important constitutional cases including the full bench hearing on delimitations of constituencies in the local government elections. He was appointed as a member of an expert group constituted by the National Police Bureau and the United States Institute of Peace on police reforms in Pakistan. In addition to all this work, Saroop has also been a diligent instructor at SAHSOL over the last many years providing instruction in areas pertaining to policing powers and oral advocacy.
Altamush is currently pursuing an LLM in Animal Law at the Lewis and Clark Law School, Centre for Animal Legal Studies on fully funded Brooks Institute Scholarship (first Pakistani recipient to receive this scholarship). His commendable academic excellence includes International & Comparative Law Scholarship (2021-22) in areas of law, Myint Zan LLM winner/student of the year (2021-22) for his exemplary interdisciplinary interests and commitment to social and justice in easing the plight of disadvantaged members of the society and excellence in pro bono service award (2021-22) which has posited extraordinary commitment to pro-bono service at the Michigan Law School.
